Dr. Murai Éva szerk.: Parasitologia Hungarica 23. (Budapest, 1990)
On the 1st of January, 1990 there were 321 imago specimens of 23 species of bot and warble flies in the collection of the HNHM (Gasterophilidae: 55 ex., 7 species; Oestridae: 183 ex., 9 species; Hypodermatidae: 83 ex., 7 species). There are also some pupae, pupal shells, dried larvae and eggs with the imago collection there. We must regard it as a significant collection and it seems reasonable to publish the information from this set of specimens in a separate paper. The original label data are shortened below on some modes and ways, which will make possible any future retrieval and identification of any specimen in the collection. The data of the larvae of bot and warble flies preserved in the HNHM will be published by Dr. Albert SZAPPANOS in the near future. The following marks are used below: " ": includes text in hand-writing; - : separates text on different labels on a given specimen; ; : separates data of specimens from different localities; / : for "or", i.e. one of the data is on the label of the given specimen; { }: for remarks or text not given on labels; {ill.}, {illeg.}: for illegible characters or parts of text; The label "Don. Mus. Univ. Berol." is always a separate label on the flies and shortened as "(Don.)". The Cyrillic letters are transcribed as usual and specifically: n = j; \\= j ; bi= y; b= '; u= ts; H= ch;m,= shch; x = kh. The data of the specimens from Hungary, if any, are given always at the end of the lists. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I owe a great debt of gratitude to Dr. Árpád SOÓS, who gave me his notices on bot and warble flies and provided me with invaluable information and advice. I sincerely thank Dr. László SUGÁR for presenting his material (mainly from Mongolia), incl. larvae, to the collection of the Zoological Department, HNHM.
