Some Nematodes from Small Mammals in Eastern Mongolia Dr. Ferenc MÉSZÁROS Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest "Some Nematode from Small Mammals in Eastern Mongolia" Mészáros, P. - Parasit. Hung. 7. 151-168. 1974. ABSTRACT. Nematode parasites collected by the author from 97 specimens of six small mammal species in Eastern Mongolia in 1972 are discussed. The nematodes studied are: Cephaluris andre.jevi Schulz, 1948 (host: Ochotona dauuricaT; Dermatoxys schumakovitschi (Schulz, 1948) (host: 0. dauurica); Labiostomum vesiculare Gvozdev, 1956 (host: 0.dauurica); Syphacia nigeriana Baylis. 1928 (host: Microtus ' brandti and Cricetulus barabensis); Rictularia cristata Froehlich, 1802 (host: M.brandti); Ascaris tarbagan Schulz, 1931 (host: Marmota bobac). The mammalian species Plecotus auritus and Alticola roylei semicanus were not infected by nematodes. I made a collecting trip of almost three weeks duration to Eastern Mongolia in August 1972. The area studied was a characteristic steppe, at 9OO-I4OO m a.s.l., between .Barun-Urt and Bajanterem (112°38' - 113°04' E longitudes and 46°52' - 47°44' N latitudes respectively ). The aim of the trip was the collecting and investigation of parasitic nematodes of small mammals in Mongolia . The host species collected are as follows (number of specimens in parentheses): Plecotus auritus Linnaeus, 1758 (l), Ochotona dauurica dauurica Pallas, 1776 (l), Marmota bobac sibirica Radde, 1862 (2), Cricetulus barabensis Pallas, 1773 (4), Microtus brandti brandti Radde, 1861 (82), Alticola roylei semicanus Allen, 1924 (7). No nematodes were found in Plecotus auritus and Alticola roylei.
