Hung . 6. 169188. 1973A number of 797 beetles representing the families Carabidae, Scarabaeidae , Tenebrionidae and Histeridae were examined externally and internally for nematode parasites. Nematode larvae isolated were reared on culture media to the adult stage for identification. 268 beetles (33-6 r S) were found infested by nematodes. Only external infestation was noted. Seven nematode species representing four families were identified, fully described and also their possible adverse effect to the host was discussed. Introduction Nematodes invading insects as parasites were and are of great importance to biologists, not only from the biological control point of view, but also for physiological studies. The relation between insects and nematodes was intermittently studied and discussed by various investigators. Studies in this respect were carried out to reveal various phenomena concerning symbiosis, parasitism, and the external or internal effects of nematodes on their hosts. Research workers in these fields also aimed to find application in biological control . In Egypt, the nematode and insect relationship was not extensively discussed so far.The association of nematodes with insects was investigated by JANET (1893), FUCHS (1915), GLASER (1932),
