Műhely JÓZSEF KÖBLÖS Once again on the Pápa School in Adásztevel The public religious practice of the Calvinists in Pápa was put to an end by the Queen Maria Theresa in 1752, as a result of which the College had to be closed. Trying to find a place for the College to survive, the Pápa Calvinists chose the nearby village of Adásztevel. Partly they were successful with their applications, since the queen allowed them to set up an incomplete (no syntax was taught) grammar school including a grammatica class. The presentation clarifies how the elementary school of Adásztevel related to the incomplete grammar school of Pápa launched in Adásztevel. It examines the structure and the circle of students of the latter one. At the beginning the Pápa school used to have 6 learning groups from lectors to grammatists but some time in 1766-1769 a syntax group joined the school and then in 1771 German language teaching was started. Illegally, the school developed into a so-called 'small grammar school'. All the groups were instructed by praeceptor Mihály Nagy. Used in rotation by both schools, the building of the Adásztevel elementary school provided place for the Pápa school as well from 1753 to 1761, for which they paid rent. On a building site in Adásztevel owned by the Pápa Calvinist Church a separate school building made of wood and adobe was constructed in 1761. Out of stone, it was reconstructed in 1776.
