Seventeen thousand meters of historical source/Introduction of the main archives
council and between 1929 and 1950 it was a county town. Between 1950 and 1984 it is a district town. Its first archivist was nominated in 1874, but the position was open many times and the archivist was regularly taking care of other administrative tasks as well. The documents of Cegléd country town survived from the beginning of the 18 th century. The longest: series of documents - almost 20 linear meters - from the town offices of the 18 th century belong to the tax-collectors. The most often searched document sets are the document series of the market town council: records, censuses of population prepared for different purposes, council documents starting from 1701, records of property reports, and the collection of the testaments with the size of almost one linear meter. The statement books reflecting the economy of the town - with smaller deficiencies - are available from 1715. After 1848 the main sources are the documents of the bodies governing the town, and of the town council and mayor. Due to the selection (rejecting) carried out in the 1930s the archives of the mayor are rather incomplete. Scientific research is made easier because the documents generated between 1872 and 1930 of the integrated office were organised into 21 series (records) based on the species. The documents of the local administrative organisation, Cegléd Town Council established in 1950 were received by our archive until 1973 inclusive. Kiskunlacháza. It purchased its enfranchise (1279) and got its name (Lackóháza) from our king Ladislaus IV; it was a market town until 1872 and became a large-village only after that. The elected council, with the Chief Justice at the top, governed the market town. After 1872 the large-village was governed by the representative body consisting of "virilis" and elected representatives. Documents were preserved only from the end of the 17 th century, and the enfranchise is known only in its 18 th century transcription. We have been taking care of the records of the council boards since 1747. Besides we have a relatively great number of the records of the circular letters (from 1783).
