AZ ORSZÁGOS SZÉCHÉNYI KÖNYVTÁR ÉVKÖNYVE 1976-1977. Budapest (1979)
I. Az OSZK 1976-1977-ben - Somkuti Gabriella: Az Országos Széchényi Könyvtár 1976—1977. évi működése - The Activities of the National Széchényi Library in the Years 1976—1977
Budapest. The Hungarian representative of the 1977, London sitting of the ISO was also from our Library. The National Széchényi Library was represented on the 1977 jubilee congress of the IFLA in Brussels by the Director-General, Dr. Magda JÓBORÚ. The increasingly close cooperation of the national libraries of the socialist countries was manifested in the continuation of the meetings of working groups on acquisitions in the national libraries, national bibliographies, union catalogues, and interlibrary loan. Cooperation also started in the field of research. The first subject is the model of the national library in advanced socialist society. Research is directed by the Lenin Library in Moscow, and the Széchényi Library is collaborating in it. We continued to participate in the work of the AIBM (Association Internationale des Bibliotheques Musicales), especially in its organized bibliographical undertakings (RISM, RILM, MIC). From 1977 the direction of the Hungarian national committee of the AIBM was handed over by the Music Collection of our Library to the Library of the Academy of Music, conseqently our organizing work and role decreased. In the autumn of 1977 there was a Czechoslovak—Austrian—Hungarian conference where agreement was reached on the closer cooperation of the three countries in the field of RISM. In 1977 the National Széchényi Library joined a new international organization, the IADA (Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Archiv-, Bibliotheks- und Graphikrestauratoren). Direct bi-lateral contacts with the fellow-institutions of the socialist countries showed further development, with the exception of Rumania. In 1976 we agreed upon personal exchanges with the Library of the Jagelló University in Cracow. Our foreign visits aimed mainly at locating and registering Hungarica materials. Six members of our staff received scholarships for research in Western European countries. During the two years representatives from the Library attended 49 international meetings, 35 in the neighbouring socialist countries, 14 in Western European ones. Taken together in 1976/77 136 journeys were made on behalf of the Library, 114 to socialist countries. During the period we received 72 librarians for longer visits. 70
