E-mail: matskasi@nhmus.hu Introduction 2009 was the year of change for the Hungarian Natural History Museum. We restructured our institution in order to accommodate it to the changing needs of the society and to make its operation more efficient. The museum's professional activity is divided and run buy three competencebased knowledge centers: 1. Division of Research and Museology 2. Division of Documentation and Information Technology 3. Division of Education and Exhibition The Division of Research and Museology incorporates the collections, collection care and scientific research. The Division of Documentation and Information Technology deals with the application and development of museum information technology, digitization, documentation, the science history collection and research, and the library. The tasks of the Division of Education and Exhibition are dissemination of scientific knowledge, education, exhibition design and maintenance, PR and marketing. Annls hist.-nat.
