282 I. Matskási Collections and collection management We safeguard about 10 million specimens among which 245,674 are individually registered. The different departments acquired the following material of great significance: Department of Mineralogy and Petrology: The donation by mineralogist JÓZSEF ARNÓTH (163 items); The type material of the new mineral species Chabazite-Mg, described from Hungary. Department of" Palaeontology and Geology: Paleovertebrate material collected at the Iharkút site (Bakony Moun­tains). Especially important are, the skull fragments of Ceratopsia and Rhabdodontidae dinosaurs, Ornithopoda skull fragments and a large femur of an Enantiornithes bird. Department of Zoology: New mollusc types acquired by the Mollusca Collection. Department ot Botany: The purchase of ANDRÁS VOJTKÓ 's herbarium from Australia (5,000 pages), paleobotanical material from the Permian-Carboniferous Pe­riod of Gondwana. Department of Anthropology: The remains of 1,600 individuals were collected from archaeological excavations. Collecting expeciitions abroad organized and conducted by our rese­archers have also brought valuable material to the museum. Exceptionally rich were the collecting trips to the Balkan Peninsula (Albania, Bulgaria, Greece), Romania (Transylvania, Maramures), and East Asia (Taiwan, Cambodia, Thailand). The arrangement and registry of the collection ma­terial proceeded according to plan. The complete inventoriai revision of the invertebrate collection of the Department of Palaeontology and Geo­logy began and progressed well. The number of digitized records increased in 2009, especially as regards items in cabinet registry. The digitization of the photography collection also progressed significantly, the number of re­cords grew to 25,000. Annls hist.-nat. Mus. natn. hung. 102, 2010
