Kontschán, J.: Two species of Julolaelaps Berlese, 1916 (Acari: Mesostigmata: Laelapidae) associated with millipedes from Kenya

Julolaelaps kilifiensis sp. n. (Figs 3-5) Diagnosis - Idiosoma oblong, posterior margin rounded. Dorsal shield with maculate ornamentation and short, smooth and setiform setae. Sternal shield with maculate ornamentation. Genital shield narrower than anal shield. Metapodal shields triangular. Description - Female. Length of idiosoma 1290pm, width (in the middle of idiosoma) 800 p.m. Shape oblong, posterior margin rounded. Dorsal side (Fig. 3): dorsal shield with several, smooth, short and setiform setae, one pair of these setae on apical part of idiosoma longer and thicker than other dorsal setae. Interscutellar membranes bear several smooth, short and setiform setae. Central part of dorsal shield with maculate ornamentation, latero-apical part of dorsal shield with coriaceous ornamentation. Ventral side (Fig. 4): sternal shield broader than long and bear three pairs of short, smooth and setiform sternal setae, its ornamentation maculate. Its posterior margin is shown in Fig 4. Metasternal setae situated on integument. Genital shield is narrower than anal shield. Ornamentation of genital shield lacking. Genital setae similar to sternal setae. All ventral setae short, smooth and setiform. Shape of metapodal plates triangular. Shape of anal shield triangular, with coriaceous orna­mentation. Gnathosoma (Fig. 5): Corniculi horn-like, oblong. Laciniae long. Three pairs of coxal setae visible on ventral side of gnathosoma. All coxal setae smooth and setiform. Tritosternum simi­lar to tritosternum of other julolaelapid mites. Epistoma not clearly visible. Chelicerae with one setiform setae. Palp is shown in Fig. 5. Figs 3-5. Julolaelaps kilifiensis sp. n.: 3 = dorsal view, 4 = ventral view, 5 = gnathosoma
