Bálint, Zs. ; Johnson, K.: Taxonomic synopsis of the high Andean and Austral lycaenid genus Paralycaeides Nabokov, 1945 (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae, Polyommatini)
NABOKOV'S generic arrangement was followed later by HAYWARD (1949), who described "Itylos endymion oreopola" and pointed out the close relationship of /. vapa and his /. endymion oreopola. In reality, Lycaena endymion, which is validly replaced by Lycaena sibylla KlRBY, 1871 (cf. footnote #1 of NABOKOV 1945: 35 and BÁLINT 1993a: 18) is a representative of the Austral polyommatine genus Pseudolucia NABOKOV, 1945 (BÁLINT 1993a: 18) and not congeneric with the taxa of Paralycaeides. Figs 17-22. Topotype specimens of "Itylos oreopola" HAYWARD and lectotype of "Cupido vapa" STAUDINGER. 17 = P. vapa (STAUDINGER) (=/. oreopola). male, dorsal, Puno, S. Peru (BMNH), 18 = ditto, ventral, 19 = P. vapa (STAUDINGER) (=/. oreopola). male, dorsal, Tafí, Tucumán. NW Argentina, (BMNH), 20 = ditto, ventral, 21 = Cupido vapa. lectotype (ZMHU), 22 = ditto, ventral
