Ancistrogaster spinax DOHRN, 1862 (Figs. 16 — 17) Ancistrogaster spinax DOHRN, 1862, Stettin ent. Ztg, 23: 229. — Holotype unknown locality, paralectotype male : PAN Zoologiczny Instytut, Warszawa, gen. prep. No. 501, det. Dr. H. STEINMANN. Male colour light or dark brown; head, pronotum, legs, abdomen and forceps dark brown, tegmina and wings light brown. Head with very large eyes which are slightly longer than thelength of head behind eye. Postfrontal and coronal sutures well marked. Pronotum broad, lateral margins paralell-sided, posterior margin rounded. Tegmina and wings fully developed. Abdomen strongly depressed; sides of abdominal tergites 4-7 with laminated spines laterally. Ultimate tergite broad, median longitudinal sulcus present. Forceps (Fig. 16) specific, branches slightly curved medially; inner margin with small, but prominent tooth basally; apices pincers. Genitalia (Fig. 17) characteristic, central parameral plate narrow; virga within genital lobe not of Ancistrogaster-type, sclerotized but straight ; external paramere normal, length in medial size. Female similar to male, but sides of abdominal tergites without lateral spines, forceps slender, tapering. Length of body with forceps: male: 15-18 mm, female: 14,5-17 mm. Distribution : Mexico and Guatemala. Ancistrogaster arthritica SCUDDER, 1876 (Fig. 18) Ancistrogaster arthritica SCUDDER, 1876, Proc. Boston Soc. nat. hist., 18: 253. - Holotype male: unknown locality. - Forficuia hirsuta SCUDDER, 1876, ibidem, 18: 256. — Holotype female: location unknown, male undescribed. — Ancistrogaster hirsuta (SCUDDER); BORMANS, Das Tierreich, 11: 93, syn. n. Male general colour reddish brown to black. Head rounded, vertex a little depressed; postfrontal and coronal sutures well marked. Pronotum with lateral margins paralell-sided; posterior margin rounded. Tegmina and wings fully developed. Abdomen very broad medially; sides of abdominal tergites 4-7 with very large and broad lateral spines. Ultimate tergite broad, simple. Forceps (Fig. 18) cylindrical, slightly curved medially; inner margins with small tooth basally; apices of branches pincers. Genitalia unknown. Female very similar to male, but abdomen without lateral spines medially, and forceps slender, tapering, contiguous. Length of body with forceps: male: 16-18,5 mm, female 15-17,5 mm. Distribution : Brazil and Colombia.
