ANNALES HJSTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICÏ Tomus73. Budapest, 1981 p. 127-131. Buprestidae (Coleoptera) from Vietnam by R. HOLYNSKI, Milanówek Abstract — Sixteen Buprestid species are reported from Vietnam, of which 1 species and 1 subspecies are new to science (Trachys topali sp. n.. Trachys tecmessa kaszabi ssp. n.). Faunistical data are given. With 4 figures. The Buprestid fauna of former French Indochina is surely much better explored than that of any other part of the Oriental Region, yet our knowledge about taxonomy or distribution (let alone ecology) of Cambodjean, Laotic and Vietnamese jewel-beetles is still very far from satisfactory, and any new information is worth publishing. The collection made by the Hungarian theriologist, DR. G. TOPÁL, in April-May 1966 and in November-December 1971 is rather small, but among its 16 species (25 specimens) one is new to science. Two others have been known only from the original locality, two are reported from Vietnam for the first time (one of them as a new subspecies), and the published distribut icn of two included only the southern part of the country. I wish to express my sincere thanks to DR. Z. KASZAB, the Director of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Természettudományi Múzeum) in Budapest, for kindly allowing me to study this interesting material. In the list below, the name of species (or subspecies) is followed by the enumeration of TOPÁL'S material (labels quoted in parentheses), and then the recorded distribution is given after the catalogues of BAUDON (1966, 1968), DESCARPENTRIES & VILLIERS (1963-1967), and OBENBERGER (1926-1937).
