Remarks. In the males of this species the clypeus is considerably variable in form and punctuation of the anterior margin and in the elevation of its disc. Most usually the median third of the anterior margin is slightly produced, with the apex curved forward and at its lateral corners angulated or shortly toothed ; the disc is gently roundly elevated and finely closely punctured, with the marginal area narrowly impunctate and polished. But the curvature of the apical margin of the produced part is considerably varied in strength and sometimes it becomes subtriangular. In the large-sized specimens very frequently the apical margin is straight, or even slightly emarginate and in such cases the disc becomes flattened or slightly concave and the impunctate part of the marginal area is broadened; thus the feature becomes quite different from the form of the clypeus in this species. Among the spcimens examined the largest from Kagi possesses the last mentioned characters. 23.
