Figs. 39-41. Apanteles purdus sp. n. $ : 39 = outer side of third tibia with spines, 40 = part of right fore wing, 41 = ovipositor sheath. — Fig. 42. A. halidayi MARSH. Ç : outer side of third tibia with spines. Apanteles szalayi sp. n. Ç çf (Figs. 43-47) 9 . The new species represents a member of the laeuigatus-group (NIXON 1965, 1972 ; PAPP 1976), and is closely allied with A.princeps WILK. 1941a (England, Scotland, Hungary: new record). The differences between the two species are few but of specific value : A. princeps WILK. 1. "Three preapical Segments of flagellum about one-and-a-quarter times longer than wide" (NIXON 1972: 712),or cubic, i.e., as long as wide (in Hungarian representatives). 2. "Head from in front appearing very slightly longer than wide (Fig. 9); eyes markedly convergent" (1. c.) 3. Face rather Subquadrate, its height to lower and upper breadth as 21-22:2728:31 ( X 100, Fig. 9, in NIXON 1972: 740). 4. "Mesoscutum strongly shining, its punctation conspicuous; punctures slightly larger and more Separated on posterior third" (1. c). Interspaces without any microsculpture, shiny. 5. "Transverse cubital (or cuqu^) as long as or longer than first abscissa of radial (or r,) (WILKINSON 1941 a: 29). 6. "First discoidal cell distinctly a little wider than long"(NixON 1. c), its width to length as 42:34 ( X 100), d x as long as d 2 . 7. First tergite relatively subquadrate, its length to fore and hind width as 35:28 :27 (XlOO, Fig. 1 in WILKINSON 1941a :28). 8. "Ovipositor sheath about one-and-aquarter times longer than hind tibia" (NIXON 1. c; Fig. 3 in WILKINSON 1941a: 30). A. szalayi sp. n. 1. Three preapical joints of antenna oneand-a-half times longer than wide (1:4.5-5, XlOO). 2. Head in frontal view rather rounded, slightly wider than high; eyes less markedly convergent (Fig. 43). 3. Face distinctly broader than high, its height to lower and upper breadth as 17-18:25-26:27-28 ( X 100, Fig. 43). 4. Mesonotum Subshiny to dull, with dense punctation, interspaces with microsculpture. Punctation behind rather indistinctly Separated. 5. r x always longer than cuqu x (14-13:12-11, Fig. 45). 6. First discoidal cell scarcely wider than long, its width to height as 35:30 ( X 100, d 2 slightly longer than d x (15:13, X 100, Fig. 45). 7. First tergite relatively elongated, its length to fore and hind width as 28: 16— 17:15-16 ( X 100, Fig. 46). 8. Ovipositor sheath two-thirds as long as hind tibia (Fig. 47).
