Zombori, L.: New sawfly species in the Hungarian fauna (Hymenoptera, Symphyta), III.
MOCSÁRY, 1880 Ç teste L. ZOMBORI, 1976" distinctly shows several differences by which obesus Mocs. can be readily distinguished from rossii PANZ. and from related congeners. For easy comparative purposes a review is given of the most important features for the two taxa. Tenthredo obesa (Mocs.) sp. rev. More obese Species (much like T. excellens KNW.). Head very large, much expanded behind eyes (more like that of T . costata Ex.). Brown apical Smudge on fore wing more conspicuous Since wing only light yellow. Hind margin of $ hypopygium straight (Fig. 1), Teeth of saw Set wide apart, erect. Hind corners of pronotum always marked with yellow. Fore tibia at most ringed with black apically. Abdomen more extensively marked with yellow: tergites 3-7 with yellow hind margins, sometimes 2nd and 8th also yellow marked laterally. At least basitarSuS of fore leg extensively yellow. Penis valve as in Fig. 2. Tenthredo rossii PANZ. Elongate species (much like T. scrophulariae L.) Head small, only weakly expanded behind eyes. Wing uniformly infuscate, thus, apical brown smudge less discernible. Hind margin of 9 hypopygium deeply emarginate on either side of middle (Fig. 3). Teeth of Saw Set densely, proclinate. Pronotum in most cases entirely black, though may be marked with yellow. Fore tibia behind always lined with black. Abdomen generally with less yellow; tergites 3-4 with yellow hind margins, or entirely yellow, sometimes 5-6 also yellow marked laterally. Fore tarsus entirely infuscate. Penis valve as in Fig. 4. Figs. 1-2. Tenthredo obesaMocs.: 1 = female hypopygium (Hym. gen. prep. No. 6, ZOMBORI) 2 = male penis valve (Hym. gen. prep. No. 1, ZOMBORI). — Figs. 3-4. Tenthredo rossii PANZ.: 3 = female hypopygium (Hym. gen. prep. No. 4, ZOMBORI), = male penis, valve (Hym. gen. prep. No. 2, ZOMBORI). 13 Természettudományi Múzeum Évkönyve 1977.
