Hung., 63: 319, 9Apanteles anfitrion NIXON, 1972, Bull. ent. Res., 61: 730, 9> syn. n. Through the kindness of DR. P. NUORTEVA (Helsinki) I had the opportunity to examine the holotype of A. anfitrion. Except some infraspecific deviations the two holotypes (anfitrion and luctificns) represent the same species, and, consequently, the name anfitrion becomes a junior synonym. Previously (PAPP 1971b: 323) I have named it (in 1966) as A. praepotens (Hal.). In view of the above sysnonymy the species has been recorded from Finland, Yugoslavia and Mongolia; I have males from Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Rumania. These data suggest a wide distribution in the Palaearctic Region. Locality. Suchebaator aimak: Chadatin-bulan, 60 km N von Somon Bajanterem, 950 m, 31. VII. 1965 (Nr. 340), 1 O Apanteles metacarpalis THOMS. firmus TEL.) — As I have previously pointed out (Papp 1971b: 320, 1973: 63) I consider the name firmus TEL. as a junior synonym of metacarpalis THOMS. However, NIXON (1973) has separated A. firmus TEL. from A. metacarpalis THOMS. by the following two features: 1. "setae of median cell decidedly sparse, separated from each other by about their length", 2. "tegula bright yellow". According to my examinations the setae of median cell (of fore wing) are not always sparse, and tegula may be partly of entirely black even on types, too. A variable species viewing the outline and form of 1st tergite, stigma, length of metacarp, and extent of basal light spot of stigma. The specimen from locality No. 693 (see below) without any basal spot on stigma. Localities. Gobi Altaj aimak: Zachuj Gobi, 10 km N von Chatan chajrchan Gebirge, 1150 m, 27. Apanteles midas NIXON — The Mongolian specimens (9 rf) are similar to the holotype ( 9, seen) from Finland and to the Hungarian specimens ( $ çf), except the long (and not wide) tergite 2. Proportional length to hind width of male tergite 2 of Mongolian and Hungarian specimens as 14-15 : 23-24 and 11-12 : 22-23, respectively. Reasonable to remark that this feature somewhat resembles A. cytherea NIXON. Described from Finland, new to the fauna of Hungary and Mongolia. Probably widely distributed in the Palaearctic Region.
