Description: Cross section nearly rounded oval, ratio 9:8. Shell weakly curved, ribs robust, of equal interstices, obsolescing on dorsal side. Greatest whorl cross section with 4 ribs. Remarks: By its characteristic habit, the specimen agrees with the species cited above. The suturai lines are not examinable. The apertural constriction is well discernible, and the shell widens in this place. The ventral side is completely smooth. Occurrence: England (from the aequatorialis to the substauderi zones); Switzerland (Vraconnian); France (Lower Vraconnian); Sardinia, Spain (Upper Albian); Poland, Tunisia (Albian-Cenomanian border?); Algeria, Angola?; Madagascar (Upper Albian); Texas (Duck-Creek and Fort Worth Formations, from the period agreeing with the auritus and aequatorialis zones). Remarks: Fragments of the living chamber of 8 specimens. Bakonynána, P, B. Whorls high oval, ratio 10:7, 8:6. Shell somewhat curved. Ribs robust, of equal interstices and more densely spaced as in the species virgulatus; becoming weaker or obsolescent on dorsal margin. Greatest whorl cross section with 5—6 ribs. Occurrence: England (aequatorialis—dispar zones); France (Upper Vraconnian); Switzerland (Vraconnian); Sardinia, Madagascar (from the zone characterized by Hysteroceras binum).
