Ujhelyi, J.: Data to the systematics of the sections Bulbosae and Caespitosae of the genus Koeleria. IX.

ANNALES HISTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICI Tomus 62. PARS BOTANICA 1970. Data to the Systematics of the Sections Bulbosae and Caespitosae of the Genus Koeleria. IX. By J. ÚJHELYI, Budapest I propose to discuss in the present paper a new member of the Series Javorkae UJH., as well as a critical elaboration of the collective species Koeleria pyramidata (LAM.) DOM. It was especially this latter complex, an artificial group of taxa with a high stature, mesophytous structure, high polyploid state adapted to the mesoclimate, and very similar in habits, which caused great difficulties since many years. Similarly to my previous papers, I attempt also here to make use of the rich habitat data at my disposal, aiming at a reconstruction of the past instead of an arbitrary classification. My research material derived from the following herbarial sources: Herbarium of the Botanical Garden and the Botanical Institute of the University of Zürich (Z); Herbarium of the Systematic Botanical Institute of the University of Prague (PRC); and the Collection of the Botanical Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest (BP). I am aware of the fact that the complete solution of the Koeleria pyramidata (LAM.) DOM. complex is not possible without recourse to the revision of the collections in Germany and France; however, the material of these collections would no more than add some new data to the area of the species herein clarified, whereas the examination of further collections would at present but hinder any advance. Similarly, again, to the previous elaborations, I applied my methods to obtain epidermal preparations and microscopic photographs of identical enlargements, indispensable for the detection of the lines of descent, from every specimen of the research material. X. Series Javorkae ÚJHELYI, 1965 Beside the two species of the Series, namely Koeleria javorkae UJH., and Koeleria jankae UJH., there was found an indubitably diploid grade new species, belonging to their line of descent, from Transylvania, in the collection of Dr. E. GY. NYÁRADY. This species, surely widely ranging in the Mezőség, Central Transylvania, will in all probability submit further data to a knowledge of the Series considerably differing from the European Koelerias. 42.
