Farkas, H.: Eriophyids collected by Dr. Pócs in Vietnam
Accessory bristle not discernible. Female genital organ 21 fx wide, coverflap spotted, furrows absent. Genital seta 13 jx long. Remarks. This species is characterized by the medially squamosely gibbous tergites (from third tergite anteriorly). The other main characters are the spotted coverflap of the genital organ, and the wide, obtusely truncate anterior lobe. Type locality: "Vietnam, boreo - occid. : in dumetis sempervirentibus, pr. pag. Sa-Pa, ad viam. (L.c. No. 2561), in alt. 1700 msm." Collectors: Dr. T. Pócs, KHOI, TIÉP, 23 Sept., 1963. Host: Oxyspora paniculata DC. (Melastomaceae). The mite is free-living on the leaf, accompanied by the previously described Telra vietnamica. No discernible deformation was caused. Type-material: 1 Holotype and 3 Paratype slides. According to Dr. T. Pócs's notation, the plant is marked V/l. No. 499. Diptilomiopus pocsi sp. n. The female is 180—210 fx long, 60 |x wide, elongately fusiform. I saw the specimens already in slides, hence I was unable to establish their original colour. Rostrum 42 fx long, moderately attenuating. Shield 35 jx long, 52 [x wide. Sculpture indistinctly reticulate, without elevated lines and carinae. Medial line present only on posterior margin, vague, in many specimens evanescent and hardly discernible. Admedian lines occasionally entire, in other cases indefinite and faulty. Transversal lines also almost completely indistinct. No traces of dorsal tubercles, setae of shield absent. Legs without femoral and patellar bristles, patella fused with femur. Fore leg 30 fx long, tibia 7 u. long, tarsus 11 fx long, bristle strong. Claw 7 tx long, straight, bullate, directed diagonally downward. Hind leg 28 u, long, tarsus 11 jx long, with a strong bristle, claw 7 u. long, similar to that of first leg. Anterior coxal tubercles and setae absent, second coxal tubercles well developed, with strong setae, third coxal tubercles with strong setae. Abdomen with about 62 tergites and 78 sternites. Dorsal side with a median longitudinal crest, accompanied right and left with a shallow furrow, evanescent caudad. Lateral seta absent, first ventral bristle 23 [x long, second ventral seta 18 ;x long, third ventral seta 26 jx long, situated on eighth ring caudad. Accessory seta absent. Female genital organ 29 fx wide, 21 [x long, coverflap smooth, genital bristle thin, 7 [x long. Remarks. The genus Diptilomiopus abounds in problems, since the species belonging to it are morphologically rather similar to one another. The new species stands obviously near to Diptilomiopus assamica KEIFER. Their relationship is the more probable as D. assamica was described from India. However, the specificity of Diptilomicpus pocsi is substantiated also by the different host (D. assamica lives on Citrus limonia). The new species differs mainly by the following morphological characters from D. assamica: the sculpture of the shield is not composed of elevated lines and carinae, and the pattern itself is indistinct ; the tergites bear, in contrast with assamica, microtubercles, well discernible despite their vague outlines. Type locality: "Vietnam borealis. In fruticetis sempervirentis, pr. pag. Tam Daó (loc. 2588), in silva Cyatheae. Alt. 1800 msm." Collectors: Dr. T. Pócs, KHOI. Host: Osbeckia cinerea COGN. (Melastomaceae). The mites do not cause any discernible deformation on, or injury to, the plant. Free-living on the leaf. Type material: 1 Holotype and 1 Paratype slide, marked by Dr. T. PÓCS as V/5, No. 773. All type material deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Beîerences: 1. KEIFER, H.
