Gozmány, L.: The symmocid species of the Caradja collection (Lepidoptera)
450 l. a. gozmánv Fig. 1. — Megasymmoca turana (CAR.) male lectotype, gen. prep. 1695; x 50. species is given in MEYRICK: Exot. Micr., 3. p. 356. The taxon seems to be a distinct species, but, unfortunately, the single type specimen had its abdomen broken away so that the genital examination could not be made. Lately, the species was caught (2 exemplars) in Afghanistan by KI.APPERICH. Both are females but the very distinct coloration and markings seem to exclude the possibility of an error in identification. The species will be treated more thoroughly in a later paper. Svmmoca si(|nella HÜBNER , 1796. — Four specimens present in the Collection. Symmoca caliginella MANN, 1867. — Nine specimens, together with ten S. achrestella REBEL. 1889. its junior synonym (gen. prep. 1669, „Schluderbach, MANN, 1876"). Symmoca albicanella ZELLER, 1868. — Five specimens (gen. prep. 1669, „Fiume"). Symmoca dodeeatella STAUDINGER, 1859. — Three specimens in the Collection (gen. prep. 1670, „Sierra Nevada, 260" and: 1696, „Sierra Nevada"). A very rare taxon, known to me only from the type and one or two recently collected exemplars, deposited in Berlin, Munich, etc. Symmoca nigromacuielia RAGONOT, 1875. — Of the three specimens extant in the Collection (1. p. 120), one proved to be S. tofosella REBEL, 1893 (gen. piep. 1673, „Lanjaron"); the two others lack their abdomens and are thus unidentifiable. They might be anything in the difficult nig r omaculella-gr ou p (both from Lanjaron, Spain).
