It was a great pleasure to see a fine series of this really fascinating flea of which only four specimens (2 3 2 $) had hitherto been collected (in the neighbourhood of San Carlos de Bariloche, ex Akodon varius neocenus, Akodon sp. and Euneomys dabbenei). As is shown in the original description, the development of the pronotal ctenidium is bizarre — this structure was, as is usual, depicted by JORDAN from a lateral view; the dorsal view of the pronotum is shown here in Fig. 4. JORDAN (1953: 180) remarked that „The dorsal area [of the pronotum] is drawn out into a long process which reaches to the end of the mesonotum and bears a comb, the spines of which project downwards. " Actually, as can be seen from Fig. 4, the spines are projecting more sideways Mg. 4. Barrerupsylla excelsu JORDAN. The specimen from which Fig. 4 was drawn is mounted without the application of any pressure, either laterally or dorso-ventrally .
