Bohus, G. ; Babos, M.: Notes on the occurrence in Hungary of Russula species, with regard to their range in Europe

in Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, 7 July 1956, Mt. Balázshegy, leg. Babos; in Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum, 11 July 1956, Mt. Samassahegy, leg. Babos; in Fagetum silvaticae subcarpaticum, 8 August 1957, Lillafüred, leg. Bohus&Babos; in the Mts. Zemplén : in Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum, 16 July 1958, Kishuta, leg. B o h u s & Babos. Lit. : in the Mts. Buda : in deciduous forests, Zugliget — Hűvösvölgy (B e r n á t s k y, Szemére, Bohus, R.) M o e s z (1942) ; in Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonirum, Mt. Hársbokorhegy, Bohus (1952). Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : in the Mts. Zemplén : in Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum, 16 July, 3 Sept. 1958, Kishuta. Russula cyanoxantha Fr. ex Schff. Frequent in Europe, as also in Hungary. (The relatively small herbarium material is due to the fact that this common species was rarely collected for herbarium purposes.) On the basis of home observations, it is an association-indifferent fungus, fructifying primarily in forest associations on an acidic soil. Herb. : 16 data from the areas of the Central Mountains and the Western Transdanubium. Lit.: Bohus (1952), Fehér&Bessenyei (1933), Mo esz (1930,1942), Szemere (1926), üb riz s y (1939, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1956, 1959), Visnya (1928—29); sub. nom. R. cyanoxantha f. lilacina : U b r i z s y (1943). Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958): In the course of the past surveys, it was found in the following associations, that is, forest types in the Western Transdanubium : Pineto-Quercetum, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum mediostiriacum luzuletosum ; in the area of the Hungarian Central Mountains : Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum myrtilletosum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum Dicranum facies, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum caricetosum pilosae, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum poetosum nemoralis, and in transitional beech stocks. Russula delica Fr. Ranging in Europe, and common in many areas. It is frequent in Hungary too. Concerning its coenological connections, it may be regarded — on the basis of observations till now — as an association-indifferent species in Hungary. Herb. : 19 data from the areas of the Central Mountains and the Western Transdanubium. Lit.: Bohus (1952), Mo esz (1942), Ubrizsy (1941). Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : In the course of coenological surveys, it was found in the following associations, that is, forest types, and transitional beech stocks in the area of the Hungarian Central Mountains : Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum, LuzuloQuercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum myrtilletosum, PotentilloQuercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum poetosum nemoralis, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum Cladonia facies, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum caricetosum pilosae, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum subnudum, Seslerio-Fagetum biikkense nudum, FagetoOrnetum hungaricum. Russula densifolia (Seer.) Gill. Its range includes almost the whole area of Europe ; it is common in Denmark, Finland, and some other countries. It is rather frequent in Hungary (more so than R. nigricans). It fructifies in numerous kinds of forest types, occurring in masses chiefly in Luzulo-Quercetum, but it is consistently absent from certain others. Herb. : 14 data from the areas of the Central Mountains. Lit. : in the Mts. Buda : Hűvösvölgy (Szemere) Moesz (1912), S z e m e r e (1960) ; sub nom. R. adusta : around Budapest (Bernátsky, Moesz, Szemére) Moesz (1942).
