Bohus, G. ; Babos, M.: Notes on the occurrence in Hungary of Russula species, with regard to their range in Europe
Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : In the course of coenological surveys, it was found in the following associations, that is, forest types, in the area of the Hungarian Central Mountains : Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum Dicranum facies, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum poetosum nemoralis, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum Cladonia facies, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum caricetosum pilosae, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum luzuletosum. Russula emetica Fr. ex S cliff. It is frequent, indeed, it occurs sometimes in masses, in several European areas, first of all in northern, Atlantic and high mountainous localities. Its occurrence in Hungary is limited almost exclusively to the Luzulo-Quercetum (the home character species of this association). Herb. : in the Mts. Buda : in Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum Dicranum facies, 4 August 1954, Mt. Tökhegy, leg. Bohus&Babos; in the Mts. Bükk : in Fagetum silvaticae subcarpaticum, 8 Oct. 1958, Lillafüred, leg. Bohus&Babos; in the Mts. Zemplén : in LuzuloQuercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, 16 Sept. 1957, Mt. Nagysomhegy, leg. Bohus&Babos; in Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum myrtillus typ., 3 Sept. 1958, Mt. Laczkóhegy, leg. Bohus&Babos; in Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, 16—18 Sept., 7, 25 Oct., 14 Nov. 1958, 28 July 1959, Mt. Nagykerekhegy, leg. Bohus&Babos. The majority of the data of our home literature cannot be taken into consideration, as they may refer to Russula fragilis forms with a red cap. Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : as the Herbarium data. Russula farinipes Rom. apud Britz. A species generally rare or unknown in Europe, yet rather frequent in England and Denmark. There are two literature data concerning its sole Hungarian occurrence. Lit.: around Budapest: Kamaraerdő, under oak trees (Bohus) Moesz (1942); Bohus (1943) (with the description of the material). Russula fellea Fr. A frequent or common species in a large part of Europe ; on the other hand, it seems to be absent from certain territories. Its occurrence in Hungary is rather special. It was found till now exclusively in the different types of Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum (and in the phytocoenologically very closely-allied Genista pilosae-Quercetum petraeae matricum). Accordingly, it is the character species of Luzulo-Quercetum. It fructifies in masses in certain stocks, sporadically in others. Herb. : around Sopron, 16—18 Sept. 1955, leg. K a 1 m á r ; in the Mis. Buda : in LuzuloQuercetum subcarpaticum Dicranum facies, 15, 29 Oct. 1955, Mt. Tökhegy, leg. B o h u s & Babos; in the Mts.
