Buda, 24 Sept. 1955 ; 27 July 1957. leg. Bohus & Babos. Lactarius decipiens Quel. This species is probably missing from Northern Europe, not rare in Central and Western Europe. The same holds good for Hungary. The agreement with the statement of Neuhoff is also interesting, namely that it is one of the earliest fructifying Lactarius species. A frequent species in Europe, with the exception of the Northern European areas (Neuhoff). Its range includes also Hungary, but it does not occur in masses. It grows in various kinds of oakwood communities. One may sometimes happen on its variety of a lighter color (not darkening even after drying) and of a concentrically rugulose margin : L. volemus var. subrugatus (in querceto, near Tahi, Mts.
