Nagysomhegy, 16 July 1958 ; in LuzuloQuercetum, 16 July 1958 ; in Quercetum petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum, Kishuta, 16 July 1958 ; in Luzulo-Quercetum fagetosum, Mt. Kiskerekhegy, 17 Sept. 1958. The Fuliginosus (Azonites) — group The segregation of the species within this group in the past few years makes it impossible to analyse the meagre amount of literature data concerning the taxa to be discussed below. These data will probably refer to the species most frequent within this group in Hungary, namely to L. azonites. Of the other species of the group, L. acris and L. picinus are rare in Hungary ; we have no indisputable data on the occurrence of L. pterosporus and L. fuliginosus ; and of L. fuliginosus, we have herbarium specimens only from the Carpathians (from Czechoslovakia!! and Roumanian territories). Lactarius azonites Bull, ex Gmelin In general, it is frequent in Europe and so also in Hungary. Among the members of the Fuliginosus-group, it may be called the most frequent one in Hungary. As witnessed by herbarium data, it is distributed all over the country, fructifying mainly in oakwood communities. Herb. : 21 data. Mycocoenological ? urvey data : (Bohus & Babos 1958) : in Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, Mt. Hársbokorhegy, Mts. Buda, 7 July 1958 ; in Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, around the Lake Rekettyés, M+s. Pilis, 9 July 1958 ; in Luzulo-Quercetum fagetosum, Mt. Samassahegy, Mts. Bükk, 20 August 1958. Lactarius acris Bolt, ex Fr. The species indicated as rare in France, Germany and England, has no other and sure data of occurrence in other European countries. It is rare also in Hungary, found in two places of the Hungarian Central Mountains. It fructified in the types of the association Luzulo-Quercetum on acidic soil. On the ground of these data, one may perhaps alter the assumption that this mushroom prefers calciferous substrates (Neuhoff).
