The species, frequent in North Germany, Sweden and Southern Finland but rare in other European districts (Neuhoff), was collected by Szemére (1.926) in coniferous woods in the Mts. Buda. This is the literature datum published also by Moesz (1942). There is no herbarium specimen or other citation in Hungary. Lactarius quietus Fr. A species frequent and distributed within the area of the oak in Europe. It is frequent also in Hungary, being one of the commonest Lactarius species. It is especially frequent in the oakwoods of the Mts. Buda. Herb. : 22 data. — Lit. : Bohus (1952), Konecsni (1952—53), Moesz (1930), Ubrizsy (1941,1943). Lactarius violascens Otto ex Krbh. Relatively rare in Europe. Its frequency in Hungary is about identical with that of L. uvidus ; it is not rare in some areas. In accordance with the findings of N e u h o f f, it prefers hornbeam-oakwoods also in Hungary. It can be well separated from L. uvidus by its zoned cap of a darker color, by the brown granulation of the hyphae of the cap, and by its stouter, bulkier habit.
