A species distributed over the marshy, wet areas of Central and Northern Europe, not infrequent in Hungary in certain years. As witnessed also by the herbarium data, it is to be met with mainly in the types of the Luzulo-Quercetum and in coniferous woods on an acidic substratum in Hungary, — in the case of favourably precipituous weather.
