Soós, L. ; Schlesch, H.: Notes on some Arctic Mollusca from Greenland
104 Dr. L. SOOS AXD HANS SGHLESCH The jaw (fig; 4 B) is eomposed of a stoul, strongly arcuated middle plate of a dark yeliowish-brown eolour, and two lateral plates figured in the distorted positiop as they are lying in our single preparation ; they are made up of fine parallel fdaments. Limnaca Vahlil has been observed on the western coasts of Greenland and occurs from the most southern parts until about 70° N. lat. It is, however, probable that it is inhabiting also more nortbern parts since Mr. PETER FREUCHEN has informed us that he had observed freshwater Mollusca at Tliule near Gape York (c. 77° N. lat.), but the specimens eollected were, unfortunately, lost: the specimens were belonging probable to Limnaea Valilii. WESTRRLUND 10 ) reeords besides this speeies erroneously Succinea e.hrysis WESTL. and Planorhis Nathorsti WESTL. from Fast Greenland, but Viirina angelicae oceurs in Easl Greenland only. Limuaea Vahlii is, however, widely distributed in arctic America. Limnaea Holhdllii MOLLER and Limnaea Wormskjoldii MORCTT are probably but varieties of this very variable species. 41 ) *•) Vega-expedit. Vetensk.
