VII. ANNALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICL 1909. CONTRIBUTION TO THE MONGOLIAN ORNIS WITH DESCRIPTION OF SOME NEW SPECIES. By Dr. J. v. MADARÁSZ. (Plate IV.) With the present communication I want to clear accounts about a small collection of bird-skins which I acquired through the «Hazai Zoologiai Laboratorium» in Budapest. This collection originating from Transbaikalia respectively from the northern parts of the Mongolian Mountains and which contains some new species collected by 0. TEICHMANN and F. WEISKE in April—July 1908. 1. Turdus ruficollis, PALL. — Two male specimens. «Monda, Sib., Chinesische Grenze», May 26. 2. Turdus obscurus, GM . — Two male specimens. Tibelti, River Irkut, East-Sibiria, June 5. 3. Cinclus sp. ? — Two female specimens from the Tunkan Mountains, April 5 and 6. One specimen is larger and considerably darker in colour, and has the upper part dark chocolate brown, darkest on the rump; cheeks, throat and breast white, mottled with brown, these mottled markings are most distinct on the throat and sides of breast ; belly chocolate brown gradually shading into blackish on the under tailcoverts. Total length 180, wing 86, tail 52. bill 14, tarsus 27 mm. The other specimen is considerably lighter above and below; rump and upper tail-coverts dark slate instead of chocolate brown ; throat and chest white with only few brown markings, but a brown band runs backwards on the cheeks from the angle of the lower mandible on both sides. 1 Total length 172, wing 83, tail 47, bill 16, tarsus 28 mm. 4. Tharrhaleus tetricus, n. sp. (Plate IV, fig. 1.) — One male specimen from the Saigan Mountains in Mongolia, May 11. Description : Above greyish-brown with blackish longitudinal streaks on the mantle ; 1 It is remarkable that this marking is less distinct in the other specimen described above.
