DÁGI, MARIANNA - SIPOS, ENIKŐ: Report on the Conservation of Coptic Textiles in the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities (1999-2000)

31-33. Fragments belonging together. Budapest, Museum of Fine Arts, inv. nos. 84.375.A, 97.58.A and 97.59.A 84.375.A, 97.58.A and 97.59.A (figs. 31-33): material (wool), colour (red on black), the weaving, and the thread-count (8 warp and 16-18 weft threads) correspond. Certain differences can be observed between the animal figures (?) in the medallions, but this is quite general in Coptic textiles. 12 In this case, the difference in size among the three pieces can be disregarded because of the irregularity of the pattern: the width of the band framing the medallions is not uniform even within the same fragment. 13 12 See n. 13. 13 The fragments are torn and missing pieces, so only the inner dimensions (inside the border) of the medallions can be given: 84.375.A. 7.7x8.5 cm. 97.58.A, 7.9x8.1 cm; 97.59.A. 7.8x8 cm.
