Sacral space - „ethnicity" - nation-state Possibilities of analyzing sacral spatial processes on the basis of ethnic dynamics RÓBERT KEMÉNYFI Based on the influential and widely debated article and volume by Samuel P. Huntington, the essay presents the possibilities of analysing religious spatial processes on the basis of ethnic dynamics. It gives a macro-level description of the connections between the space of the nationstate and the denominational space and it presents the possibilities and impossibilities of measuring „ethnicity" and religiousness. From the mezo- and micro-level research trends of the sacral space, the investigation of local religious space-models, the methods of proxemics, mental spaces, cognitive mapping and the statistical-geographical method are also presented.
