The vast amount of teaehing programme is performed in near 80 per cent by the staff of the clinics, diagnostic institutes and chairs based on the National Institutes belonging to the Postgraduate Médical School. Moreover, there are courses (at the intermediate leve!) which are organized in mutual co-operation at the bases of regional hospitals (teaehing hospitals) in Szombathely, Győr, Szolnok and Miskolc. The médical universities are also involved in the organization of postgraduate courses and a considerable number of lecturers are invited to the courses by the central institution. Rested on a wide-scale opinion of the expert committees, scientific bodies and national institutes, the Ministry of Health issued a decree about the reform of specialization in medicine. According to the decree of 1078 there are twenty-nine ,,basic" specialities which may be obtained in 4 to 5 years depending on the speciality, by a practice complemented with compulsory courses and finally passing both a theoretical and practical examination. In addition, there are twenty-eight specialities which may be achieved on tlie basis of one or more relevant ,,basic" ones. The acquisition of the secondary specialization requires two years which must be spent in a Special ized institute or ward, or in a relevant activity. Such changes in the specialization urged the Institute to elaborate the main topics of practical and theoretical knowledge necessary for the exams of specialization and tliese were issued in 1978 and 1979. Ali physicians should equally comply with the requirements and ach'eve a high standard of specialization independently from the different technical and professional conditions they are to work under. The Postgraduate Médical School consists of 10 clinics, 5 institutes and 1G chairs. In the headquarter of the Institute seven parallel courses could be organized and the Educational Building is equipped with up-to-date audiovisual technical aids. Recent years the total number of students who participated in different forms of postgraduate education exceeded 7000 which is speaking for the fulfilment of the basic programme assigned to the Institute.
