ADATTÁR - Nagy-Tóth Mária: A gyógyítás ára a Batthyány udvarban 1633 és 1664 között

176 Comm, de Hist. Artis Med. 218—221 (2012) SUMMARY The court personnel of the count Batthyánys included also apothecaries, wise-women collecting medical herbs and bath attendants of both sexes as well. Valentinus Purgolt the favourite doctor of Lady Éva Poppel often spent his time in Dobra, in the court of his lady, while in Németújvár, Adám Batthyány or his brothers were also often visited by him. Éva Poppel was satisfied by her doctor’s activity, so she recommended him to other nobles, e.g. to Count Esterházy, Nádasdy or Forgách as well. Consequently the physician and the „medical staff’ played an important role in the contemporary Hungarian nobles’ courts. The high estimation could be measured by the high salary including rich grants in money and in kind as well. Author of this paper collated accounts of the Batthyány court in a time- span of 30 years (1633-1664) regarding grants of the medical personnel in money and in kind. Her results and conculsions are based almost exclusively on archival sources recently found, analysed and published by her.
