ADATTÁR - DOCUMENTATION - Szenti Tibor: Paráznák (II.)

The shelfmarks of the original manuscripts are as follows: Fond IV.A.1006. protocollum judiciale (Vásárhely), Fond IV.A.53. sedes dominalis Károlyiensis (Szentes) and Fond IV.A.21. sedria (ie. sedes judicaria) (Szentes). Although these documents may attract the attention of scholars, no one has elaborated them yet, probably owing to their sexual character, no matter that their value could be compared to those documents of the whitsch-trials publisched by A. Komaromy, F. Schram and E. Pócs. Any kind of monographical elaboration may only be carried out by using different methods of a number of sciences. The author had to apply the methodology of history, demography, law, sociology, folklore, and in the aspect of medicine the accomplishments of diagnostics, folk-medicine and ethnology as well. These different approaches altogether provided a clue for a comprehensive presentation of the culture-historical characteristics, features of the way of life of Hungarian peasants in this period. Instead of setting up a strictly chronological order the documents are classified into a couple of cathegories. Each of them has a general and a comparative introduction. The cathegories are as follows: 1. Presentation of genitalia for sexual or magical purposes, seduction, vagina as a drinking vessel, bonnet as sexual symbol, female-rapists, procuring, offering relatives for sexual activities. 2. Women as sexually initiative partners. 3. Decoration, defloration, humiliation. 4. Nakedness. 5. Baby-snatching, exposed children, feticide and criminal abortion. (The first part of the collection, dealing with aggression, was published in Communicationes de Hist. Artis. Med. vol 117—120. 1987. pp. 87—102.) The profusion of aspects indicated, that the presentation of the documents is different to that of the current practice. We must consider human culture homogenous in time and space, which is only coloured by the different peoples, social classes and ages on their own way. Especially true it is in the field of sexual instinct manifestations. The elaboration therefore was different to the usual undoing analytical method.
