Sandall claimed in it that romantic anthropology is guilty for a great number of sociocultural 3 problems today. According to him the idealization of the traditional, "tribal" way of life makes the J3S living conditions for the people at the edges of Western civilization even worser. This is because the J§o "tribal" world is closed both in social and political aspects, whereas the modern Western society is described as open with regard to political rights, economic development and personal freedom. László Vajda's aim it to reconstruct Sandall's world view. He claims that romantic anthropology is a much less severe hindrance for an anthropological analysis of the modern world than the oversimplifications made by Sandall.
