SZELJAK GYÖRGY: Alkoholfogyasztási minták egy mexikói nahua indián közösségben
GYÖRGY SZELJ AK Drinking patterns in a Nahua village in Mexico Drinking alcohol builds an important part of the everyday life of many people. Although we often think of it as a source of personal conflicts or crises its cultural role is at least as considerable. In every community there are several rules for who can drink what and with whom etc. These norms may often get into conflict with different subscriptions, especially in case of cultural contacts. This paper deals with the drinking patterns of a Nahua village in Mexico. It aims to describe the diverse interpretations the local inhabitants offer for it. Through this kind of analysis it will be possible to depict the crucial features of the community's norms, social composition and ritual practices. It can also help to understand why drinking has began to appear in a vast number of fields of the community's members' everyday life in the last two decades, not least because of the rapid cultural changes.
