151. chener Akademie und 1904 die Privatschule von Lovis Corinth. 1903-06 studierte er an der Colarossi- und der Julian-Akademie. 1908-09 hielt er sich im Rahmen einer Studienreise in Italien auf. Er unternahm mehrere Auslandsreisen und studierte dabei 1911-12 an der Budapester Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Nachdem er anläßlich seiner Parisreise im Jahr 1914 die Technik der Radierung kennenlernte, wurde er bald der Bahnbrecher der Verbreitung dieser in Siebenbürgen. 1921 heiratete er die Malerin Eta Sárossy, mit der er seit 1927 in Budapest lebte. • His artistic inclination became apparent already in the secondary school in Munich. He attended the classes in Nagybánya already at the age of seventeen (1902), and in 1907 he worked in the group of "nonstudents". In 1903 he studied at the Munich Academy and in 1904 at Lovis Corinth's private school. In 1905-1906 he continued his art education in Paris, at the Academies Colarossi and Julian. He made a long rrip to Italy in 1908-1909. Besides other lengthy travels abroad, he studied at the Budapest Academy of Fine Art in the years 1911-1912. During his trip to Paris in 1912 he learned the technique of copperplate engraving and soon became the first propagator of this method of printmaking in Transylvania.
