A Sapientia Erdélyi Magyar Tudományegyetem a három központban, Kolozsváron, Marosvásárhelyen, Csíkszeredán, minden évben megrendezi a Tudományos Diákkonferenciát is. Az Erdélyi Múzeum-Egyesület Agrártudományi Szakosztálya a rendezvényeivel, konferenciáival szeretné a magyar szakoktatást támogatni, terjeszteni, úgy, ahogy azt egyik alapító tagunk dr. Csávossy György a lelkünkre kötötte, „legyen a helyes magyar beszéd, a tudományos szakkifejezések fészke”. ABSTRACT The research of Transylvanian agricultural history and the role of the Museum Association of Transylvania László Lázár The Museum Association of Transylvania is the most illustrious academic association in Transylvania. Its creation was a result of initiatives, dating back to the beginnings of the independent Principality of Transylvania, to establish public institutions, but circumstances did not allow for success. Even though its foundation was already decreed by the 1841-42 Transylvanian Diet, it could only be established in 1859, by the efforts of Count Imre Mikó and his associates. The institution had been known since then as the Hungarian Academy of Sciences of Transylvania, and its founding assembly was held in Kolozsvár between 23 and 26 November 1859, with Count Imre Mikó (1805-1875), the „Transylvanian Széchenyi” as its president. Its declared aims were the establishment of a museum, academic research into its material and the propagation of science and culture in the Hungarian language. In 1950 the Communist dictatorship abolished the association as well as several similar bodies, seized its collections and transferred them to state institutions. The association was re-established in 1990, with Professor Zsigmond Jakó as its president. The association now consists of seven departments, with the Agricultural History Department as the most recent, founded in 2005. The current goals of the association are: a special library, fruit gene bank, the propagation of recent or recently re-discovered breeds and cultivars, re-establishment of Western-type cooperatives, providing motivation and help for young professionals active in vocational training, maintaining links with civil and academic organizations, maintaining contacts with national and international civil organisations, cooperation with similar associations; setting up a periodical in which young reserachers, graduate and post graduate students will be able to publish their papers. 119 I I
