Matolcsi János: A mezőgazdaság szocialista átalakulásából adódó múzeumi feladatok

MUSEOLOGICAL TASKS FOLLOWING FROM THE SOCIALIST TRANSFORMATION OF AGRICULTURE JÁNOS MATOLCSI Studying the methods of agromuseology started at the Hungarian Agricultural Museum, in principle still engaged in its traditional activity pursued for sixty odd years in all branches of agriculture, turning to account experience gained at home and learnings from abroad. The actuality of further developing the guiding principles of agromuseology at the present juncture is stressed by the novel museological methods required by the socialist transformation of Hungarian agriculture. The primary necessities are the general reshaping of the exhibitions, the complete rearrangement and extension of the museum's entire demonstrative collection. Reshaped collections are to meet the following requirements: a) to give a coherent picture of the past and historical trends of agriculture; b) to show the visitors past and present means of production; c) to popularize agricultural sciences, agrotechnics and zootechnics based on science; d) to furnish scientific knowledge for the comprehension of biological processes; e) to point toward the future by presenting the results of scientific experiments. The author discusses the perspective plans of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum. Here the precedence is given to arrangement of exhibitions on geoponics, cultivation, horticulture and wine growing, the mechanization of agriculture and agricultural engineering. Correlated tasks are the extensive development of the collections and the enlargement of the exhibition area for the proper arrangement of the objects collected. By developing the collection, the Museum aims at establishing a wider documentary base for exhibitions and research in agricultural history. 2 Magyar Mezőgazd. Múzeum Közleményei — 7 17
