Molnár Erzsébet COLLECTION ENLARGEMENT AT THE TRANSPORT MUSEUM The study analyzes a relevant component of the history of the institution brought into being as a collection in 1886 and functioning as a museum since 1869. The possibilities and habits of collection enlargement, the scientific attitude or its possible lack, the leaders and co-workers of the museum determined, to a great extent, the ways of increasing the collection. The study gives an overview of the importance and source value of the objects, the ways of their getting into the museum, in general, as well as shown on examples, from the very beginnings to the 2000s. The historical overview and the analysis of development are performed in parallel for the 100-year period. 249
