Hungarian railways. In the open air there are railway buildings (depo, water-house, stores), original locomotives, various railway carriages, truck construction machines (e.g.: "Buda" tamping machine, "Csaba" ballast screener, crane wagon, stc), manual and mechanised track maintenance instruments on show. Attila Szabó reports in his papeer "The Permanent Exhibition of the Transport Museum: Aviation History and Space Travel" about the fact that the aviation and space travel exhibition of the Museum can be seen in the Petőfi Hall (former Industry Hall) since the 22nd October, 1985. The history of the aviation an the space travel is demonstrated in chronological order on an area of 4000 m 2 devided into 16 cabinets. The catalog issued in 1910 reports on pictures as first remembrances concerning the aviation. In a short time after that, instruments, propellers an engines were included into the collection. Before World War II there was a significant collection already, but a great part of it - mainly original aircrafts and models - were destroyed during the World War. After World War II the collection and arrangement of the material were continued with a great élan. The first objects in connection with the space exploration appeared. The Author introduces the richest and most spectacular part of the exhibition, which is the hall of the original, historical, enginepowered aircrafts. In the further part of the study we receive information about the sail-planes, the engines, the power plants, the propellers and about the technically true models. 385
