F x hibát ions We arranged a temporary exhibition "The ami of libe Chinese jade carving" in the rooms no. 2 and (partly) no. 3 of the China Museum. 154 pieces have been displayed in the following distribution among the different periods: Shang-yin and Western Chou 7. The Museum of Natural Sciences displayed in a case its own pieces of partly cut nephrite and Jadeite of different provenances. We attached to these 3 characteristic pieces of our Indian collection and one carving from the Nepal collection. The material of the Museum of Natural Sciences was chosen and arranged by Mrs. Tibor Viincze and she wrote the explanatory comments as well. For her obliging cooperation here again we express our deep gratitude. At the same lime we express our thanks to Dr. Zoltán Kaszab, Director-general of the Museum of Natural Sciences for his readiness in helping the cause of the common exhibition. The selection of the material, explanatory notes and planning of the exhibition from our part was made by Tibor Horváth. He was helped by ihe activity of Mrs. László Kecskés. Dr. Sándor Koch obliged us by undertaking the task of the opening of the exhibition. Dr. Sándor Koch, winner of the Kossuth Prize, retired university professor, his been one of the best friends of our museum in the last 50 years. He always helped us in the identification of the semiprecious stones and so it was a great honour for us that he fulfilled our request this time. The exhibition aroused a great interest among llbe spectators even in the first weeks and we bad more visitors than we had previously expected. Because of the occasional character of the exhibition we did not ma'ke a catalogue or guide to it. László Ferenczy selected material and wrote ihe explanations for an exhibition of the Art of Vietnam which under the patronage of the Central Directorate of Museums has been shown in schools and Cultural Houses in Budapest and all over the country. Libra r y's A cquisitions: The annual growth totalled 283 volumes, including 88 volumes of periodicals. In exchange we obtained 160 items (books, periodicals, catalogues), while we received 34 volumes as free gifts. For the latter our thanks are due to: Unesco (Paris).
