Tibor HorváÜi spent 10 days in Japan from LOtli to 21th May on the basis of the invitation of the Cultural Department of the Japan Foreign Ministry. He could prolong his staying with two weeks due to the kind help of the Museum Department, of the Ministry of Education and the institute for Cultural Relations. He was given the opportunity lo pay visits to 28 art museums. 0 exhibitions and even one day he spent at the EXPO. Besides Tokyo and Osaka he visited Kamakura, Kyoto, Nara and Mikage (Kobe East). Moreover he could lake part at the showing of the new building of the Tokyo National Research Institute of Cultural Properties and at ihe XXIII. annual session of the Bijutsu Gakkai (Society of art historians). Besides. Tibor Horváth was invited by Dr. Stephan Waelzold. Director-general of the Staatliche Museen Preussis« her Kulturbesitz, to the opening ceremony of the new exhibition of the "'Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst'" in Dahlem and lo lake pari at the two day symposium before it. He used ibis occasion, too. for making acquaintance with the exhibitions of oilier museums.
