HOPP FERENC MÚZEUM — MUSÉE FERENC HOPP - Horváth, Tibor: Report on the Activities of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts in 1964

TIBOR HORVÁTH REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE FERENC HOPP MUSEUM OF EASTERN ASIATIC ARTS IN 1964 Our exhibitions remained closed, in consequence of renovating one of our buildings, the Hopp Museum and the subsequent moving of our libraries and offices to the China Museum. A part of our material was exhibited in the János Damjanich Museum at Szolnok from the 19 th of October, 1963 to the 6 th of October, 1964. The exhibition was entitled, ,,Eastern Asiatic Bronzes and Wood-block Prints". Otherwise, the activities of our museum were not disturbed by the renovation. During the first half of the year, we rechecked the inventory and in the second half, besides the rearrangement of our Chinese depot, we started selecting the material for our next exhibition ,,Eastern Asiatic silks, lacquer and porcelain". Fortunately the number of our staff members was increased. In August, Ferenc Bakos and Flórián Huszár were transferred from the University Library and Ildikó Nagy joined us at the end of the year. Ferenc Bakos graduated from the University of Hanoi in 1963, majoring in Vietnamese literature, while at the same time, Flórián Huszár terminated his course of Chinese history at the University of Peking. Ildikó Nagy received her diploma of the history of Korean literature at the Phenyang University. In deep sorrow, we commemorate our founder-director, Dr. Zoltán Felvinczi Takáts, who died on December 5, 1964. He was the director of our museum from 1919 to 1948, and in retirement, he still regularly visited our museum and shared all our joys and difficulties. His memory will stay with us and we will always regard him as our ideal.
