Hanny, Erzsébet VALENCIÁN "DESCENDANT" OF THE KING ATTILA THE HUN, AT THE SIEGE OF BUDA (1686) Among the regular troops therewere many volunteers in the multinational army gathered around Buda in 1686. Many nation's sons were there, English, French, Dutch and even descendants of nobles of Spain, Castile, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia. Many were wounded or died in the siege of 13 th July. There was one volunteer from Valencia (Spain), who can be identified. There is a hand-written, paint-decorated volume of a special edition of poems in the collection of Kiscelli Museum of the Historical Museum of Budapest. This is a collection of poems written by Valencián nobles to celebrate taking back Buda. There is a sonnet in this collection which commemorates him. He called in the panegyrical poems Marquis of Llaneras and the count of Olocau, last male child of a noble Valencián family, bat his realy name was José Vilaragut Lima y Arbeu. The history of the family is not really known even in Valencia, although they played significant role in the history of the royalty. The Vilaraguts (Vilaguts according to certain certificates) are from Catalonia and according to their genealogy they originated from royal ancestors. They considered the son of King Attila the Hun and Honoria empress to be their ancestors, and based on the Hun-Hungarian relationship legend they also felt relationship with the Hungarian king and the Árpád family. Their coat of arms is eight stripes argent on red base. They could prove their pedigree with certificates from Louis the Pius's time. They have been living in the territory of Valencia since the 14 th century. The Vilaragut men were training with weapons since the early Middle Ages, they attained their aristocratic titles early and usually had extensive, wide spread estates. The family was among those called "rico hombe", that meant the oldest and most noble family of the crown. By the time Antonio de Vilaragut y Visconti was born, the family had obtained many titles and wealth. He was one of the most influential member of the family also he founded the entailed estate. Antonio had returned to Aragon from Sicily in the company of the Sicilian Leonor. After his father's death, he inherited the family titles and estates in Valencia and Sicily. The primogeniture he established in the 14 th century is one of the first ones. He bought the possessory right of Olocau from the relatives of his wife, this land was the base of the majorat. The economic and moral decadence which reached Spain at the turn of the 16 th17 th century did not reach the wealth of the family, but it did affect the estates. Chasing away the "Moriscos", the banditry flourished mainly in Valencia and the epidemic decreased the population. Jorge Vilaragut Castellví had already been bom into a heritage in a critical economic situation, in 1632. His military career was going well and he could marry the court lady of the queen. He was the father of José, born in 1658. The son also considered military service to be the main task. The father and mother were loyal to the Habsburgs. His was mother Ines de Lima Abreu, whose family came from Portugal at the time of the rebellion in 1640. He inherited the titles and the estates after his father's death at the age of 19. At the siege of Vienna he was already
