4. Az aquincumi polgárváros ún. Symphorus mithraeumának hitelesítő feltárása (Zsidi Paula)

és északi irányban történt, feltehetőleg a gyülekezet létszámának megnövekedése következtében. A későbbi mithraeumról új információkat elsősorban a falalapozásokról, illetve a falstruktúrákról nyerhettünk. Az ismert alaprajzot a feltárás eredménye nem változtatta meg. A későbbi mithraeum cellájának sárga döngölt agyagpadlójáról csak a Nagy Tibor féle feltárás közleményéből szerezhettünk tudomást, nyomát már nem találtuk. Az épület észak-déli metszete jól mutatja, (4. kép) hogy a pódiumfal és a szentély északi zárófala közötti részt sárga agyagos feltöltés töltötte ki. Jól látszik, hogy a késői pódiumfal alapozása jóval mélyebb, mint a szentély északi zárófaláé és az északi kerítésfalé. A későbbi pódiumfal alapozásának alsó kősóra, a megmaradt korábbi faltető szintje felett 20 centiméterrel kezdődött. Ez jelzi, hogy az átépítés nagyobb szintcmcléssel is járt, ami viszont épület tájolásában bekövetkezett módosulásokat is figyelcmbevéve jelentősebb városrendezési változtatásokra is utal. A II. mithraeum esetleges további átépítéseiről a pódiumfalak eltérő falazási technikái tanúskodnak. Az északi pódiumfal például a korai szakaszon fugázott, egy kis területen még a fehérre festett vakolat is the entrance dividing the hall from the cella. The impressions of their bases could be found in the floor. (Fig. 3) The entrance wall of the later cell was identical with the wall of the hall of the earlier temple. The cast floor extended in a westerly direction under the later interior shrine, which contained the well-known cult image. The continuous line of the floor was once again interrupted by a statue base, probably the impression of the base of the early cult image. The extent of the cast floor and the shifting of the podium walls suggest that the mithraeum occupied a smaller territory in the earlier phase, especially in the north and the east. The qualitv of the cast floor and the bases of the statues imply that the earlier mithraeum was architecturally less sophisticated than the later one but that it had a similarly high standard of interior design. Mithraeum no. II (later) : The earlier mithraeum was probably enlarged in the east and the north because of the increasing numbers in the community The foundations and the structures of the walls that yielded new pieces of information about the later mithraeum.
