Our knowledge of the Roman topography told us that we could expect continuous sedimentation and buildings displaying signs of having been renewed and reconstructed several times. These expectations were justified by the first phase excavations in 1994 and 1998, when continuous occupation in the Roman period could be documented. In the 1
