BAKRÓ-NAGY The présent article is the continuation of On the Question of Proto-Meaning Reconstruction (cf. I. NyK 80: 381 — 89; II. NyK 81: 339 — 52). In this part the author tries to answer the foliowing two questions: 1. how can we sélect the most fréquent common features for the reconstruction of proto-meaning ? It is argued that not the number but the quality of the common features is significant. 2. what is the relationship of daughter-language meanings to reconstructed proto-meaning? Semantic changes are not introduced in the catégories of traditional historical semantics but as séquences of hyponymical relations.
