Restoraion of gravely deteriorated wooden objects: restoration of two timbered chests of poor condition - Summary Formerly replacements for the heavily decayed parts of wooden objects were made by sawing or cutting of the damaged part and gluing the new bit to the yet intact whole. The procedure involves the loss of the original parts of the art object and is therefore seen as ethically questionable. The author presents how synthetic resins can be applied for completions - and, as a result, all the parts of the object retained - by reporting on the restoration of two timbered chests. For completions a mixture of epoxy resin (Tipox 400), hard wood dust, titanium di-oxide, earth colours and chalk in a solvent were used. The completing compound sets between 1 to
