A komód restaurálás után CZAKÓ, Ferenc The restoration of the cómmode made by Johann Schneider, cabinet-maker of Németbóly from 1859 - Summary The author gives an account of the restoration of a biedermeier style commode of a private collection. After the presentation of its state prior to restoration, the steps of the conservation are described in details. The major structural elements were sticked together with Eporapid epoxy resin and Amicoll (a Hungarian product), while for the places requiring a less lasting binding and at the fixxing points for the veneer, Planatol (a wet dispersion of polyvinyl-acetate) was applied. The major fault were substituted of pine-wood, while the small defects were mended using liquid wood. New legs were made for the commode of solid walnut-wood. The interor parts were treated with Xylamon and Paraloid B 72 diluted in nitro- -dilutant. The veneer completion was retouched with aquarelle paint. The fittings and locks ornamenting the object were cleaned by electrolysis (using 5% NaOH as electrolyte). Before equipping the commode with them, the surface was polished with shellac. 184
